CSI has conducted a number of Vocational Rehabilitation studies for state Departments of Economic Security. Vocational Rehabilitation, VR, programs are designed for the benefit of clients, who are mentally or physically challenged and require assistance in finding and maintaining employment. Without an adequate Vocational Rehabilitation program that addresses the VR client's specific needs and problems, many VR clients would be unable or unwilling to compete in the workplace. Conversely, a well-organized VR program can provide VR clients with gainful income and the self-esteem of being a functional, productive component of society.
When CSI is contracted for VR projects, CSI interviewers collect information from both VR counselors and VR clients in order to assemble a detailed database from which the report is generated. Information collected from VR counselors may include case closure rates and reasons for case closures, and whether and what type of service plan was developed. Information collected from VR clients includes employment duration and satisfaction, assistance in obtaining and maintaining jobs, overall satisfaction with services provided by the VR program, and more.
Data collected by CSI's interviewers are processed at CSI's research laboratory, and results and analysis are compiled in a concise report. The report shows comparative results of success and satisfaction with various aspects of the VR program, and can be used in determining which areas of the VR program operate satisfactorily and which areas (thusly) could use improvement.
An accurate, timely report by CSI provides visibility from both the VR counselor's and VR client's viewpoint. Information presented in the report provides a concise indication of case closure rates, causes of case closures, overall satisfaction expressed by VR clients, clients requiring additional help, goal achievement by VR clients, and more. With these concise, comparative statistics, managers for VR programs can get a clear view of which areas of the VR program require attention, and which areas are already operating smoothly. This is a benefit to both those managing VR programs, and those who rely on them for vocational support.
